The Maynard Hotel Access Statement
Introduction
The Maynard, 16 Esplanade Gardens, is a beautiful Victorian property located in a quiet residential area. We aim to meet the needs of all of our guests, however due to the nature of the property this can make access for guests with limited mobility difficult.
The Maynard is located at the top of the cliff lift, with bedrooms on different levels, with steps leading up to the entrance and between floors, making them unsuitable for wheelchair users.
Pre-Arrival
The Maynard is located on a residential road with easy access by car
Nearest bus to town centre is at West Street approx 100 yards away
Nearest shop is approx 350 yards away at Ramshill.
Scarborough Railway Station is approx 3/4 mile away. Plenty of taxis are available around the station, we are happy to pre-book taxis for you from the Guest House
The Maynard accepts pets by prior arrangement only.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
Please advise us when making a booking of your anticipated arrival time
Rooms are available from 16.00 hrs, or collect a key up to 13.00hrs, we ask you to vacate by 10am on day of departure
Parking is at owner’s risk & restricted on street parking outside the Guest House, parking tickets are available for a small fee.
We are walker and cyclist friendly
Assistance with luggage is always available
Main Entrance & Reception
There are 4 steps into the lobby area from outside. Please ring the bell on arrival
A reception area is in the hallway where you can check in & a bell is available to summon assistance
Public Areas - General (Internal)
The front door leads through to the lobby, then onto a carpeted floored hallway and reception
Off the hallway through a door is the main guest lounge with comfortable seating & colour TV
The dining room is accessed down 18 stairs from the main hallway. Separate tables are provided for each room
The Maynard has 1 main staircase with 16 steps leading to the first landing, 7 steps to the first floor, 12 steps to the second landing, 11 steps to the second floor, 7 steps to the third landing & a further 13 to the third floor. Our wide staircases have handrails to one side
All rooms have night storage heaters
Public Areas – Toilet
The toilet is located two steps down from reception
Dining Room, Lounge & Bar
The lounge is always open for guests use
Ample seating is available with sofas and easy chairs, colour TV
The Maynard is licensed and the bar is open for guests and their friends and family each evening during and after dinner, or on request through the day.
The dining room is large and spacious, fully carpeted with separate tables for each bedroom
Breakfast is served in the dining room, between the hours of 8.30 & 9.00am
Shopping
Nearest shops including Post Office, “convenience” store with cash point, Chemist and Hair dressers is 350 yards away or separate post box is 10 yards away
Bedrooms
We have 11 bedrooms set on 3 floors; all are fully carpeted and night storage heated
All rooms are fully en-suite
Hot drink making facilities in all bedrooms
TV's, Hairdryers, clock radios, irons and boards are provided in all bedrooms
Most rooms have synthetic pillows cotton sheets and blankets, any guests with feather allergies, please inform on booking
All rooms are spacious and decorated to the highest standard
All bedrooms are located on the first to third floors, none available on the ground floor
Grounds and Gardens
The Maynard has a small front decked area with 5 steps down to it, with a table and chairs available for the guests use
Additional Information
A full Fire System is in operation
Fire extinguishers are distributed around the Guest House and clearly marked
Please read the fire safety instruction in your room folder (if you have any hearing impairments please advise on arrival) All fire exits are clearly marked
The Maynard is 100% NON SMOKING
We are happy to cater for some special diets and certain likes and dislikes please advise before arrival
We are happy to keep medication refrigerated for you
